Barby v A1 Combined

Barby v A1 Combined

Barby opened their midweek campaign with a bang in a run fest at the BCG which also marked a winning debut for Director of Cricket Mal Loye.

Shorn of regular bowlers skipper Adam Shay elected to field first and was repaid with 2 early wickets. Both fell to Mayoo Karunakaran, the latter via an excellent one handed grab by gloveman Rob Field. Mayoo’s figures 2-34 of 4 overs were the best of what was to become a chastening evening for bowlers.

Abhay Lal 76 not out, Keval Rathod 31 and James Nuttall 80 not out then struck out and Combined posted a mammoth 196 off their allotted 18 overs.

Facing 11 an over, skipper Shay issued the order to attack …and that’s what happened. Alex Thorley 57 off 33 balls (3 6’s)and Rob Field combined hard hitting with some athletic running between the wickets to have 125 on the board after 10 overs!

Matt James 16 and Tom Gleghorn 19 both played cameos leaving Field to finish things off in the penultimate over. Field hit 5 6’s and 6 4’s in an unbeaten 91 off 51 balls whilst ex England opener Loye was not required to bat!
